Have a look at this new #review and metaanalysis by Makridis et al. 2022 examining the safety and outcome parameters of epilepsy surgery in infants (≤6 months old) with drug resistant epilepsy (#DRE).

The systematic literature search identified 16 publications and 158 cases to be included in the metaanalysis. The results indicated exceptional #seizure control, with 89% of the patients experiencing a reduction in seizure burden, post surgery. Noteworthy, two out of three patients became seizure free post intervention. For these patients, beneficial effects on #cognition was more common.
